”At approximately 7:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5th, a 13-year old [Later identified as Mak] male student from McCormick Junior High School attempted to cross Western Hills Boulevard at the crosswalk. While crossing,he was struck by an oncoming vehicle [The driver was a texting teenager from the nearby high school, going way over the speed limit] The victim sustained critical injuries and was transported by ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.”
While I may not have know Mak personally, I was there at the time of the event. Our Junior High has been extremely impacted by this event, whether we knew him or not. We are sending our best wishes to the families of the victim and the driver, and here is how you can support.
- Wear red. Red was Mak’s favorite color, and our entire school wore red to show support today.
- Release a Red balloon 🎈. You don’t have to do this, but it’s a nice gesture to send our thoughts up to him.
- Send happy thoughts. We need all the support we can get at this time.
Thank you for all your support!
